Brief: Poster Design

For this mini project, we were given the task to make an A2 poster that present a joke in a unique way. The joke I chose was ‘What word starts and ends in ‘E’ and only has one letter in it?’. I chose this joke as I thought they could be several ways to present this joke cleverly as a poster. I started out by doing some initial sketches of my ideas, with minimal detail just as a way of gathering my thoughts and producing a possible draft.  With a lot of my first ideas, I felt they were too simple and easy to make, and I wanted to make it more challenging and effective. I wanted to make it quite interactive, either making the poster open like and envelope or having that theme somehow linked in there. Brief: Business Card Design

For one of our ongoing pieces of work set, we have been asked to create a business card of our chose for a made-up business within York. Company: Barry's Barbers Target Audience: Males Purpose: To Persuade Back Front My idea behind this business card is that i wanted to stray away from the stereotypical shape that is overused (e.g. 85mm x 55mm). I randomly chose a hairdresser as the occupation I would base my business card on, so I started thinking of ideas which would be more unique. I started looking online for examples of business cards for barbers, and decided to discard any of the things that were repeated. Most commonly used things were scissors, combs, moustaches etc. I started some sketching that I had, and considered how I could make a professional, simple and effective design which would appeal to the intended audience. I then had the idea of just creating a silhouette of a males head from a side view, and then making the business card that shape.

It's a long read so I hope you enjoy 😃 Introduction The History of movie posters has developed alongside methods of production and technology in recent decades. Before the creation of advertising through film, the movie poster was the way of attracting an audience and gave the people a first look at what a film may be based around. I wanted my topic to be based around a company called Mondo, who are a design company in the US who are trying to bring back the real purpose behind movie posters through vibrant illustrations and prints that mix the old with the new. I believe that their ideas and brand will expand into somethin
